The Lions Club of Entebbe celebrated a memorable evening of service and fellowship when Lion Vensar Baryomu was honoured with the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow award, the highest form of recognition associated with the Lions Clubs International Foundation.
The award was presented during a twilight ceremony held at the Children’s Park near Hotel Horizon in Entebbe.
Lion Vensar was accompanied by his newly-wed wife, Lion Nice, as he received the honour in recognition of his dedicated and selfless contribution to humanitarian service.
The Melvin Jones Fellow recognition carries special significance within Lions Clubs International, honouring individuals whose commitment to serving communities reflects the Lions spirit of service.
The award was presented by MJF Lion Leoney Muwaya, President of the Lions Club of Entebbe, in a ceremony marked by fellowship, appreciation and celebration.
The occasion also recognised two other Lions for their outstanding contributions to service. Lion Christer Torstensson and MJF Lion Edwin Niwagaba received distinguished awards in recognition of their commitment and service to the Lions movement and the community.
For Lion Edwin Niwagaba, MJF, the recognition comes as he serves as Immediate Past President of the Lions Club of Entebbe and Zone Chair, providing leadership to six Lions Clubs within District 411B.
The evening brought together Lions united by a common commitment to humanitarian service, leadership and community development.
The recognition of Lion Vensar Baryomu, Lion Christer Torstensson and Lion Edwin Niwagaba was a celebration not only of individual achievement but also of the enduring Lions motto, “We Serve.”
