With the performance, Uganda Cricket Cranes ended up falling 2 runs shorter than Namibia A.
Namibia A won the toss and chose to bat first, pacing Uganda to chase 146-runs to win the opening game.
Uganda’s Cricket Cranes came close to victory but fell short when they scored only 4 runs from the last over for the needed 7 runs to win the game played at Entebbe Lakeside Oval on Thursday, July 17.
With a loss of 6 wickets for Namibia A, Captain Jan Balt led the way with 48 runs, Zacheo Jansen Van Vuuren added 43, and Dylan Leicher scored 29.
For Uganda, Ivan Baidu was the standout bowler, picking up 3 wickets for 23 runs. Brighton Muganzi and Pius Oloka also picked up a wicket each, as did Kenneth Waiswa’s pinpoint Fielding earned a crucial run-out.
In the second inning, opening the batting, Simon Ssesazi went on to bat for 17 overs for his 66 runs, Pascal Murungi added 38 off 26 balls.
Rallying for an overturn, Jan De Villiers disadvantaged them by taking two wickets while giving away only one run. Uganda ended on 143 for 5, shorter than the 145 from Namibia in 20 overs.
Uganda Cricket Cranes will be back in action against Nigeria as they stage a bounce back on Friday, July 18, at 9:30 AM at the only hosting venue, Entebbe Lakeside Oval.
