The 5th edition of the Nairobi Jubilee Live Free Bike Race will happen this Sunday, 27th September 2026 at the Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi city, Kenya
Four team winners, team Uganda was officially flagged at the Sanyuka Restaurant – Bulange, Mengo on Friday, 25th September 2026 with a sponsorship package of Ug.Shs 33,000,000 from Jubilee Insurance Uganda.
Team Uganda is ready for a successful title defence having prepared well and taken a big delegation of cyclists.
“We are coming back to defend our title, besides the usual names, we have added other top riders that will put us in a stronger position to compete for the top spots. Some of the riders to look out for include Lawrence Lorot, Shafic Mugulu, Paul Miiro, Davis Biyinzika and Hatim Kagaba. But in total, it is a team of 100 cyclists” Lance Ismael Ssebayiga, the director cycling Tour De Uganda remarked.
Ssebayiga saluted Jubilee Insurance Uganda for the incredible financial token.
“Our utmost gratitude goes to Jubilee insurance that has ensured that for all the editions of the Nairobi Bike Race, Uganda has been ably represented. This competition has helped out riders to stay in top shape their skills by competing against some of the best riders in region and beyond, ” he added.
Jubilee Insurance senior manager marketing and communications Camilla Mindru tasked team Uganda to maintain the status quo, just like from the previous editions.
“Last year, you delivered string performances across the different categories. That is a strong foundation, but we can aim even higher this year. The goal should be to compete for the top spot in every category and see how far we can push ourselves as Team Uganda. For Jubilee Insurance, this is much more than a race, it is happening about sustainability, physical empowerment and holistic wellness, which are central to our Live free Philosophy. We want to encourage people to stay active, make healthier choices and live to their full potential without being held back by the unexpected. The race brings these ideas to life by creating an opportunity for people of all ages to get active, connect and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle,” Mindru highlighted.
The race will feature a total prize purse of more than UGX 100, 000,000 as the cyclists will compete in six categories including the main Race, Team Race, Black Mamba, Family Fun Ride, Kiddies and Para Cyclist categories.
Jordan Schleck Ssekanwagi, winner of the inaugural race in 2019,bounced back to claim gold last year narrowly beating the defending champion and 2024 Olympian Charles Kagimu.
In the women main race, Maria Aleper took silver. For the Black Mamba category, it was a clean sweep for Uganda; Willy Kato, Dominik Mugonda and Azziz Ssempijja winning gold, silver and bronze respectively.
Augustine Ssebulime earned silver in the para category.
