NCBA Bank Uganda, Dentons law firm re-greens Nakasero Primary School on 2026 World Environmental Day

NCBA Bank Uganda joined their partners Dentons law firm alongside Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to re-green Nakasero primary school on Friday, 5th June 2026 as the rest of the world celebrated the World Environmental Day.

On the day, several trees (indigenous and fruit species) were planted at a designated area within Nakasero primary school by the officials, schools administrators, pupils and the media.

Martin Mwanje, the head of strategy and sustainability at NCBA Bank Uganda highlighted that this campaign rhymes with the company’s theme of “Change the story – a sustainable future starts by doing good today”.

“NCBA Bank Uganda is humbled to promote the environmental conservation by partnering with Dentons law firm, KCCA and Nakasero primary school. This is a sustainable strategy to change the story in environment. As a regional bank, NCBA Bank has a vision of planting 10,000,000 trees by 2030 in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.” Mwanje remarked.

Dentons law firm, ably represented by Pearl Nyakabwa, a managing partner lauded the management of NCBA Bank Uganda and Nakasero primary school for humbly embracing this tree planting initiative with open hands.

Dentons law firm has a community engagement plan where the environment, mental health and education are key elements. We always seek for ways to make the community a better place to live in. The head teacher of Nakasero primary school Gerald Mijasi lauded NCBA Bank Uganda, Dentons law firm and KCCA for the collective effort of regreening the school.

“Your coming here is going to create a lot of impact” Mijasi hinted.

“Environment is a source of income. This is going to create awareness to the learners that a good environment is key and life. Together as a school, we shall look after the planted trees” Mijasi added.

KCCA was ably represented by Charles Kazooba who highlighted the value of green cover, mini forests establishments in cities particularly and urban greening in general.

The excited pupils of Nakasero primary school, many of whom present affiliate to the Environment club expressed joy for the tree planting exercise.

“This is humbling. We thank NCBA Bank, Dantons law firm and KCCA for thinking of Nakasero primary school for the tree planting drive. We are aware about the role of trees to us and we shall protect the planted forests” Rebecca Tushabe, of Primary Seven N remarked.

The pupils also chorused aloud an educative poem about the environment, conservation and protection.

“Plant a tree, plant grass, save a future. Breezes from the north, south, east and west are crucial. Do you remember when our Uganda was totally green? Sweet melodies that tickled our ears. We condemn deforestation and bush burning. Uganda; all hope is not lost. There is life at the end of the tunnel” the poem recited hinted.

Besides the massive re-greening campaign, NCBA Bank is also inclined towards promotion of sports through golf tournaments, education and business.
