Kids of Africa Run returns with 14th edition in an only timed race on Sunday, 13th September 2026

Every year, kids of Africa Organization hosts a run where proceeds go to the community to improve on health, education, and this is the only Marathon where runners get to know the exact distance they have run.

The 14th edition shall take place on the 13th of September 2026 at Kids Pioneer Primary school Bugiri Kisubi Katabi Town Council.

This run was inaugurated in 2011 and it had over 300 runners of all ages. In 2012, there were over 500 runners, by 2017, we had 780 and by 2018 we had 900 participants and 2022 we had 650 due to covid-19 pandemic.

21km, 10km and 5km are to be taken part in this edition where 1000 participants are expected to attend and participate.

Last year, 832 participants were attracted and the event is growing bigger and better and the proceeds to support awareness of menstrual health and production of reusable Menstrual Pad to the girl Child within community schools that we previously supported with Modern toilets all in Katabi Town Council Wakiso District in the previous years.

There are a number of sponsors that have embarked on this edition to support the girl Child and they include; Sheraton Hotel, MEMPROW GIRL’S NETWORK, Kisubi Hospital, Sai pali institute, Umoja women and Yako Bank that has contributed 7million towards the cause.

This year 2026,” We are taking on the biggest challenge yet Gender- Based Violence. An estimated 95% of women in Uganda have experienced some form of Gender Based Violence. It is nit a distant statistic. It is your neighbour. Your colleague. Your family. It is happening in homes across Uganda right now. We run because they need us too in partnership with Umoja Women’s Group,” said Benjamin Kizito.

The starting point will be from Kids Pioneer Primary School Bugiri- Kisubi Katabi Town Council. Coming from Kampala, take the Entebbe Road to Kawuku (25km) at Kawuku *Bwerenga Road- boda boda stage), take a left turn then continue on the Murray Road to Kids Pioneer Primary school and Tickets go for 30,000 she per individual.

Participants should meet at 6:30am to collect their event T-shirts and race numbers. The 21km will start at 7:40am sharp; the 10km race at 7:55am, and the 5km at 8:15am.

All participants shall get medals and there shall be special cash prizes for the best participants in all categories getting the finisher’s medal.
