19th HOLE:MTN Stakes Shs10M Cash Prize For The Ladies Top Golfer, This Weekend@Entebbe Club

MTN Uganda has staked a ten million shillings (shs10M) cash prize for the winner of the Ladies golf tournament, this weekend in Entebbe.

It’s more than exciting, this weekend for the ladies top golfers sweating plasma at the 19th hole and walk away with ‘bigger’ bundles.

Peace Kabasweka, Jovia Tugume and Maureen Akura will be top ‘girls’ to eye  and who takes the cash prize from the hyena’s ‘ jaws and expect madness on the green course.

This year, we’re backing the ladies’ game with a UGX 10 million elite reward package raising the standard and inspiring excellence across the three-day championship, said MTN Uganda’s Justina Icabala.

In 2022, We has one lady golfer and as we speak now we have over thirty golfers and when we give women access to platforms, resources, funding, and visibility… we all gain.

This year’s ladies golf  open is more than a signature tournament to celebrate also the  international women’s day as well.

This year’s edition aligns with the International Women’s Day 2026 theme, “Give to Gain,” which calls for generosity, collaboration, and intentional investment in women as a pathway to accelerating gender equality.

The main Ladies event will run from 26th to 28th February. The Bronze category will compete from 27th to 28th February, while the Subsidiary event will be played on 28th February and will include men, seniors, and ladies.

In a symbolic gesture of solidarity and respect for the women’s championship, male participants in the subsidiary category will tee off from the ladies’ teeing boxes.

Justina Icabala, Enterprise Segment Manager at MTN Uganda and Team lead of the MTN Ladies’ golfers, emphasized the company’s continued investment in sports  as part of its broader commitment to national development.

Names to watch, this weekend include Racheal Mushi,Janet Kabayonga,Resty Nalutaaya,Lilian Koowe,Martha Babirye,Joyce Kisembo and Jazilla Daniel plus others we are yet to identify in this heated tournament this weekend.
