Bishop Moses Banja has commended the work of the outgoing Diocesan Youth Executive (2022-2025) and recognized their vital role in promoting a result oriented youth ministry that has transformed many young people in different aspects of life.
The Bishop made the remarks at the Namirembe Resource Centre (NAREC) while meeting members of the Diocesan Youth Executive.
He expressed his joy at seeing that many members of the Youth Executive have embraced the gift of holy marriages.
Banja said marriage helps the youth to grow in responsibility and overcome life temptations such as engaging in risky sexual behaviors, laziness, cohabitation etc.
He also appreciated the Archdeaconry Youth Coordinators for the important role they play in giving the youth ministry support and direction.
He called for careful attention to the church elections especially in the youth ministry so that we get leaders who are passionate and committed to continue with the growth and development of the youth ministry.
Banja warned the clergy of people who hide in leadership to pursue their own intentions but not God’s work and requested them to be keen.
The Bishop awarded appreciation certificates to all members of the Diocesan Youth Executive and the Archdeaconry Youth Coordinators.
In a special way he recognized the most outstanding leaders with performance awards including Kifampa Alex who is in charge of health at the Diocesan Youth Executive and received an award of the most outstanding and best performer and Nakayenga Juliet the Youth Chairperson of Nkumba also awarded the best Youth Parish Chairperson in the whole Diocese and Syodoki Samuel Eriyazaali was recognized for his leadership that has instilled discipline among the members of Boys and Girls Brigade.
Rev. Canon Henry Segawa the Diocesan Secretary in his remarks appreciated the Youth Executive for all the achievements they have managed to register during their term of leadership.
Rev Segawa said “leading the youth is very challenging and it requires lots of hard work & being determined to overcome any obstacles”.
It’s upon such reasons that it’s worth to congratulate and appreciate the Youth Executive for the great work well done,he added.
He emphasized that special focus should be put on building strong leadership structures for the youth ministry at all levels & this should start during the ongoing church elections.
If we elect strong leaders, the youth ministry will continue to grow & growth with strength, he added.
Segawa tasked the outgoing Youth Executive to work closely with the Diocesan Youth Secretary to monitor & follow up with the youth elections.
Owek. Ivan Mukasa the Diocesan Youth Chairperson thanked the Bishop for always finding time for the youth activities.
He also appreciated the Diocesan Youth Secretary for the leadership and guidance that has enabled the executive to do its work well.
The Diocesan Youth Secretary Mr. Lule Tefeero shared the detail of the achievements registered by the executive in its 4yrs tenure.
Tefeero appreciated the youth for always turning up whenever there’s call for service.
He added that strong emphasis is now on ensuring that the youth elections give birth to leaders who will add value to the ministry and champion its continued growth.
The Archdeaconry Coordinators Rev. Richard Nankibige of Kazo, Rev. Brenda Kiyaga of Luzira, Rev. Kizimura Mpalanyi of Gayaza, Rev. Edward Bukenya of Namugongo, Rev. Herbert Settumba of Entebbe, Rev. Samuel Malumba of Lutikko Deanery and Rev. Douglas Seninde also former Coordinator of Nateete Archdeaconry attended the meeting.
