The family of the late tycoon James Garuga Musinguzi is pulling ropes and threads over the deceased’s property worth two million dollars ($2M) after passing on the 6th August 2024 at the Nakasero Hospital.
And two weeks later the deceased’s family and wife Peace Musinguzi are fighting tooth and nail to share all his property and wealth to dust.
The deceased’s wife, Peace Musinguzi and son Alwyn Carl Musinguzi are knocking heads on who should manage the deceased’s property and wealth including over 150 titles under Garuga properties ltd, 30square miles under Incafex Ltd,Kigezi highland tea shares, Squares miles under Kinkizi development co ltd and others including a three storied building on Garuga close, Mbuya & hotel facilities.

According to a letter signed and stamped on the 2/Sept/2025, the deceased’s son, Alwyn Carl Musinguzi put a caveat on all his father’s properties not to be dish out until further
Musinguzi had lots of property and wealth including the Savanna Resort Hotel facility with an airfield and golf course worth shs40bn.
“Let nothing should be done in the matter of the estate of the late James Garuga Musinguzi”, reads family court document signed by eldest son.
Alwyn Carl Musinguzi accuses his mother of acting foxy and fraudulently under declaring the deceased’s properties and wealth, reads affidavit.
Garuga began his career as an accountant at Rayon Textile Limited before moving to Shell Uganda.
He is remembered for championing tea production in Kigezi and investing in tourism at a time when Uganda was still emerging from political and economic turbulence.
In 2001, Garuga delivered one of the most humbling blows in Uganda’s political history when he challenged and defeated NRM party super power minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi
He leaves behind his wife Peace Garuga and four children, as well as a towering legacy of courage, enterprise, and civic duty.
