The Chairperson of the National State Safety Coordination Group, Mr. Fred Bamwesigye, who is also the Director General of Uganda Civil Aviation Authourity yesterday inaugurated the State Safety Action Group (State SAG) at Horizon Hotel in Entebbe.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Bamwesigye said, “The State Safety Action Group has been established as a multidisciplinary technical forum responsible for analyzing safety information, identifying emerging hazards, recommending risk mitigation strategies, monitoring the implementation of safety actions, and supporting evidence-based decision-making.
Through this collaborative approach, the State SAG will contribute significantly to the achievement of Uganda’s State Safety Objectives and Safety Performance Targets.
Mr. Bamwesigye pledged his full support to the team, committing to providing the strategic leadership, policy direction, and resources necessary to enable the forum to effectively fulfill its mandate.
Speaking on behalf of the Director of Safety, Security and Economic Regulation, Ms. Irene Atto said, The inauguration marks an important milestone in Uganda’s journey towards a mature and effective State Safety Programme.
It reflects our collective commitment to strengthening aviation safety through collaboration, proactive risk management, and informed decision-making.
The State Safety Action Group comprises Ms. Irene Atto, Mr. David Matovu, Mr. Rogers Peter Wanzunula, Capt. Bruno Oringi, Mr. David Muwonge, Mr. Andrew Wabwire, Capt. Dodd Katendeigwa, Mr. John Baptist Eidit, Mr. Louis Kigonya, Mr. Alex Laguna, Mr. Daniel Migadde, Ms. Joan Birungi, Mr. Paul Kalemba, and Mr. Rembrand Rodenburg.
