Uganda’s journey towards industrial transformation, technological advancement and youth empowerment has received a major boost following an ambitious proposal by St. Benedict Technical College Kisubi to establish a Multipurpose Technical Education Freedom City Complex (MTEFCC) — a modern integrated technical education, innovation and industrial development ecosystem estimated at USD 260 million.
The proposed project, spearheaded by Mr. Peter Kabunga, College Principal, with technical guidance from Prince Mawanda Edwarles, College Chief Technical Advisor, seeks to transform St. Benedict Technical College Kisubi from a conventional technical institution into a world-class centre for skills development, research, technology, entrepreneurship and industry.
A New Era for Technical Education in Uganda
For decades, Uganda has faced a growing challenge of preparing young people with practical skills that match the demands of the modern economy. While universities continue producing graduates, industries increasingly require technicians, innovators, engineers, digital specialists and entrepreneurs capable of creating solutions and driving production.
The proposed Freedom City Complex responds to this challenge by creating a complete ecosystem where students will not only learn theories but also develop practical solutions, manufacture products, conduct research and establish enterprises.
According to the project concept, the future campus will combine:

The facilities will enable students to gain hands-on experience using modern equipment and industry-based training models.
3. Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence City

The Industrial Park will support:
