Old Mutual Investment Group Uganda (OMIG) was announced winner of the Market Development Excellence Award in Collective Investment Schemes at the annual Capital Markets Awards hosted by the Capital Markets Authority of Uganda (CMA) on 8th October 2026, recognizing its contribution to the development of Uganda’s collective investment schemes market.

OMIG was also named second runners-up in the Longevity & Commitment to Uganda’s Capital Market category, acknowledging its contribution to the growth and development of the country’s capital markets.

The awards come as CMA marks 30 years of regulating and developing Uganda’s capital markets. They recognize the role played by market participants in mobilizing savings, expanding investment opportunities and supporting greater participation in the financial system.

Through its collective investment schemes, OMIG provides individual investors with access to professionally managed investment portfolios. Its Money Market, Balanced, Umbrella and Dollar Funds offer different investment options to meet varying financial objectives.

The business also serves institutional investors through investment management and participates in the wider capital markets through securities brokerage, dealing and investment advisory.

In its September anniversary update, CMA reported that assets under management in collective investment schemes had reached UGX 7.06 trillion. This illustrates the growing role of professionally managed investment in mobilizing Uganda’s savings.

Commenting on the recognition, Zac Kisesi, Managing Director of Old Mutual Investment Group Uganda, said:

“We are honoured to receive the Market Development Excellence Award for Collective Investment Schemes and to be recognized as second runner-up in the Longevity & Commitment to Uganda’s Capital Market category. These awards reflect the work our teams have put into mobilizing savings, widening access to investment opportunities and contributing to the growth of Uganda’s capital markets. We share this recognition with our clients, financial advisors and partners whose continued confidence and commitment support our work. As we look ahead, we remain focused on expanding participation, strengthening our investment capabilities and contributing to the continued development of Uganda’s investment landscape.”

Old Mutual Investment Group Uganda Managing Director, Zac Kisesi (R) and the Head of Marketing and Business Development, Daniel Opiyo (L), receive the 2nd runners up award for the Longevity & Commitment to Uganda’s Capital Market.

OMIG continues to strengthen its investment management capabilities through the development of its private wealth offering, providing tailored investment solutions aligned with clients’ individual financial goals and long-term wealth objectives. The business is also expanding into alternative investments, broadening the opportunities through which capital can be deployed. These developments reflect OMIG’s commitment to responding to evolving investor needs, diversifying investment opportunities and contributing to the continued growth and sophistication of Uganda’s capital markets.

As part of the CMA@30 celebrations, OMIG also participated in the Capital Markets Symposium, held under the theme “Reimagining Uganda’s Capital Markets for a Sustainable Future.” The symposium brought together market participants and stakeholders to reflect on the progress of Uganda’s capital markets and discuss opportunities to deepen participation and support sustainable growth. OMIG also took part in the 2026 Corporate Run, another activity on the CMA@30 programme, in support of safer childbirth. Funds raised through the run will support the provision of Mama Kits to expectant mothers in Buvuma Island, Karamoja and Kyampisi, Mukono.

OMIG remains focused on serving its clients, mobilizing capital and contributing to the growth of the investment management industry.
