One name tag that has tormented the local community in Ndejje is a one Emma Hope Kisakye, a known lesbian whose shameful acts were identified and have been since openly been condemned by all the people.
Since she was known as a lesbian, Kisakye’s immediate family members alerted the rest of the people in the community who acted swiftly to chase her away, forcefully.
One key moment was when she was roughed up (beaten) by close family members who learnt of her dreadful act condemned by the national laws after the The Anti-Homosexuality Act was passed in May 2023.
The family also spread the news to the members of the community to be aware of Kisakye’s lesbian acts, and never to associate with her for fear of spreading the vice like a wildfire.
Hailing from a staunch religious background, the family also alerted the church (Anglican Church of Uganda) where Kisakye was a member.
From severe beatings that also led to the loss of some of her teeth, strongly worded verbal utterances and abuses to discrimination, Kisakye was subjected to all sorts of physical and emotional torture before she sought for safer spaces in the diaspora.
Upon close investigations, the Police in Uganda in conjunction with the Internal Security Organization (ISO), whistle blowers and private personnel searched for Kisakye’s close associates with many of them arrested and interrogated.
Among those interrogated entailed Kezia Nakirya, a notorious character in Kate Wamulongo, Suzan Mbatudde and Lydia Aliwonya were all arrested at different police stations.
In Uganda, Lesbians and Homo-sexuals live in abject fear since their acts are prohibited by the Laws of the Country.
From public condemnations, the same sex characters are ridiculed, abused, beaten, arrested and many are mobbed by public gatherings to death.
They suffer from mental breakdowns and are often isolated as they are never accommodated in society as they are totally rejected and taken as outcasts.
All said and done, it is never surprising that the same-sex couples escape from the country from the jaws of fear, suffering and utter rejection.
