At least 35 schoolchildren from more than 20 schools in Kalungu District are set to receive support towards their education under an initiative by automotive distributor Double Q Company Limited.
The support, provided through the company’s corporate social responsibility programme, will cover school fees and scholastic materials for children from vulnerable households.
The beneficiaries include children who have lost one or both parents, children from families affected by HIV/AIDS, and children living with disabilities who face additional challenges in accessing and remaining in school.
The initiative is intended to help ease some of the financial pressures that can disrupt children’s education, particularly in households with limited resources.
Double Q Managing Director Lin Yu said the company chose to support education as part of its broader social responsibility activities.
At Double Q, we believe that a successful business has a responsibility to contribute positively to the communities in which it operates.
Our CSR strategy is guided by the desire to create meaningful and sustainable social impact, particularly in areas such as education, public health and community development, added Managing Director
Yu said supporting children’s education could have benefits beyond meeting immediate financial needs.
Education has the power to transform lives and communities.
By supporting these 35 children, we are not simply meeting an immediate need; we are investing in their potential and giving them an opportunity to build a better future.”
Richard Musani also Head of Marketing at Double Q said, the intervention is aimed at addressing some of the practical challenges that can make it difficult for children from vulnerable families to remain in school.
We recognize that for many families, the cost of school fees, books, stationery and other scholastic requirements can be a major challenge.
For children who have already experienced difficult circumstances, including the loss of parents or living with disabilities, these challenges can become even greater.”
Musani said the company hopes the assistance will enable the beneficiaries to concentrate more fully on their studies.
“Our intention is to help remove some of these barriers so that these children can concentrate on learning and developing their potential.”
Support reaches schools across Kalungu
The beneficiaries are drawn from more than 20 schools across Kalungu District, extending the programme beyond a single institution or community.
Musani said the broad reach was deliberate.
We are particularly encouraged that the beneficiaries come from more than 20 schools across Kalungu District because it allows us to reach children in different communities.
We believe that every child deserves an opportunity to access quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances.”
The assistance is expected to provide some financial relief to beneficiary families while helping the children continue their education with greater stability.
The initiative is part of Double Q’s wider CSR activities, which the company says focus on areas including education, public health and community development.
