Residents of Namasuba and the family of Mukubira Shafiq, a teacher at TOSIA School Ndejje, are living in fear and uncertainty following his alleged abduction by unidentified security operatives.

According to family members and close friends, Mukubira Shafiq was reportedly taken from his home in Namasuba in the evening of 22 March 2025 by heavily armed men said to have been driving a white “drone” vehicle commonly associated with security operations in Uganda.

Witnesses claim the operatives arrived suddenly, surrounded the residence, and forcefully took him away to an unknown destination.

Since the incident, the family says they have not received any official communication regarding his arrest, whereabouts, or condition.

Efforts to trace him through police stations and security offices have reportedly yielded no answers, leaving relatives deeply worried about his safety and wellbeing.

Neighbors described Shafiq as a calm and dedicated teacher who was committed to educating young people in the community. His disappearance has sparked concern among fellow teachers, students, and residents, many of whom are calling upon authorities to provide clear information about his situation.

Family members have appealed to the government, human rights organizations, and security agencies to intervene and ensure that Mukubira Shafiq is either presented before a competent court of law or released if no charges exist against him.

“We are living in pain and fear because we do not know where our relative is or what condition he is in,” one family member said. “We ask the responsible authorities to help us find him and allow him access to his family and legal representation.”

Human rights advocates continue to raise concerns over cases of enforced disappearances and detentions carried out by unknown operatives. Community members in Namasuba say they hope Mukubira Shafiq will be found safe and reunited with his loved ones soon.
