Former Ugandan diplomat Micheal Katungi is in trouble after the US government hunting him down for several months a cross the continent over deadly military business & missions.

The former high profiled diplomat was arrested over the weekend & put behinds over  military deals.

Katungi also for Butemba county parliamentary aspirant is in bad books after the US government black-listing him over military supply worth $58 million.

From humble background, Katungi  has  rotated the  world class  in  diplomatic affairs and circles of  high immunity.

From Ugandan university to  deputy head  Mission at the Uganda High Commission in Abuja-Nigeria  to Head of Investigations to NRM party National Chairman’s office 2015-2017) to  Security Logistics Officer at the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to  Acting Head of Security and Safety Division at the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Security Officer at the East African Community in Arusha, Tanzania to hiding in thickets & caves.

Former UPDF officer Michael Katungi Mpeirwe has reportedly been arrested in Uganda and is expected to be extradited to the United States.

Katungi is accused of  arms documentation and using connections across the  African continent  in support of the alleged operations.

The U.S. authorities have charged him with drug trafficking conspiracy, firearms offences and providing material support to a  ‘terrorist’ organization.

Katungi and others have been in  military firearms, rocket launchers, drones and other military accessories plus equipment.

U.S. prosecutors allege that Katungi was part of a multi-million-dollar international arms trafficking conspiracy linked to Mexico’s Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG).

Katungi created fake documents to hide the true destination of the weapons, pretending the end user was Tanzania while the guns were actually going to Mexico.

The charges he faces carry heavy penalties, including a minimum of 10 years to life imprisonment if convicted,says our police dogs.

In 2019, Katungi briefly sought to represent Uganda in the East African Legislative Assembly on the NRM ticket but later withdrew.

Katungi has played  key role in 2015 as a mediator of  the return of Gen David Sejusa also  former intelligence chief who had gone into exile after criticizing President Museveni’s government.

Katungi  has several trainings  abroad including studying at the George Marshall European Institute of Security Studies in Germany where he earned a postgraduate diploma in 2012  and  same year, he completed an MBA in International Business from Amity University in India.

Over the years, he served in various military departments but eventually settled in the Defence Intelligence Service (formerly Military Intelligence), a sensitive wing of Uganda’s armed forces and gained prominence in intelliegence circles including  investigation into the helicopter crash that killed John Garang, then Vice President of Sudan, in 2005.

Katungi has previously  dismissed  allegations  of  false and malicious information & telling public to ignore  what he called “malicious accusations.

Born in Kyankwanzi District, Katungi has a  Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Makerere University in 2000 before join-ing the Uganda People’s Defence Forces as a cadet and trained at the School of Infantry in Jinja.

Katungi’s education has been varied, extensive and comprehensive  in security circles plus trainings & born of Butemba.
