Veteran Ugandan singer Jose Chameleon has dismissed suggestions that he is on the same level as fellow musician King Saha, insisting that he will not adopt the same promotional approach for his upcoming concert.
Speaking at a crowded outdoor gathering, Chameleon appeared to question why he should be compared with Saha, making a pointed remark in Luganda: “Nga wemwakola kwabo abadongo?” — roughly questioning whether the same promotional treatment given to other artists should apply to him.
The remarks, which began circulating widely on Friday, come as the singer prepares for his long-awaited Chameleon Unlimited concert.
Earlier this year, the two musicians were briefly linked to a possible clash over the Lugogo Cricket Oval on December 4 after Chameleon voluntarily relinquished a booking he had secured, citing the wider interests of the entertainment industry.

King Saha later clarified that he had no plans to stage a concert on the same date, attributing the controversy to miscommunication.
Chameleon, whose real name is Joseph Mayanja, is regarded as one of Uganda’s most established musicians and was among the figures who mentored Saha, whose real name is Mansur Ssemanda, during his early career under the Leone Island camp.
Their relationship has experienced periods of public tension and reconciliation, with the two occasionally finding themselves at the centre of conversations about seniority and influence in Uganda’s music industry.
Unlike Saha, who has actively promoted his shows through public appearances and other publicity efforts, Chameleon has pursued a different strategy for Unlimited. His campaign has included a partnership with Trace TV, aimed at extending the concert’s visibility beyond Uganda.
The latest comments have reignited debate among music fans about the two singers’ respective positions in the industry, particularly as both continue to build momentum for their remaining 2026 performances.
