Two weeks ago, the American Center in Kampala organized a workshop under the theme “Beyond the Bats” towards the road to Los Angeles 2028 and one of the dreams for Uganda sports athletes.
In Africa, Uganda is secondly in Cricket after ,South Africa,Nambia & Zimbabwe, revealed Dennis Musaali also Uganda Cricket President.
Uganda is fighting hard to position itself across the continent and the government has invested heavily to safe guard the sport, he added.
Cricket came with the White missionaries and started in traditional schools like Busoga College Mwiri & St Charles Lwanga Kasasa, he revealed.
Alot of efforts & developments have been put forward to promote cricket & we have started community cricket in Gulu, Soroti & other districts in the country, Musaali added.
The American resource center along Nsambya road in Kampala capital city, organized the ‘Beyond the Bats’ workshop with different stake holders including sports managers, trainers, icons & media as Uganda prepares to carry the flags to Los Angeles in 2028.
Base ball brings ordinary people together & Uganda has two base ball fields with one in Gayaza, said report.
We are one of the few federations that have a ‘home’ and we have enrolled over 300 schools on board, said Muwanguzi John Bosco also Base ball profession player.
By December 2026, we shall have the Baseball championship in Uganda & we 6 teams across the continent & Uganda is positioned to compete favorably, said report.
Uganda is more than ready to carry the Base base flag across the African continent & we have around 13 regional offices in Uganda & we should motivate young people, said Muwanguzi.
We have a well structured procedure we follow & it’s free of charge to join the base ball academy, he added.
The beyond the bats workshop was attended by over hundred participates and our players have managed to reach the furthest as America, said report.(By PEACOCK .R.K)
