The Watoto Golf Tournament is back and about raising funds for the vulnerable mothers under the theme “Hope on the Green”.
The week-long tournament will run from the 3rd to the 8th August at the Uganda Golf Club in Kampala, bringing together professional golfers, elite amateurs, caddies, corporate teams and development partners.
This year’s tournament forms part of Watoto Church’s long-term vision leading to its 50th anniversary in 2034, with the ministry aiming to empower 10,000 vulnerable mothers across Uganda and South Sudan over the next eight years.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Watoto Ministry Team Leader Pastor Edward Mwesigye, said the tournament demonstrates the church’s commitment to transforming communities through practical support.
“We are inviting individuals, companies and friends of Watoto to join us in raising UGX 450 million to empower 1,000 vulnerable mothers with business starter kits.
A contribution of UGX 450,000 will enable each mother receive a business starter pack and holistic support to on addition to helping her establish a sustainable source of income and provide for her family.
At Watoto, we believe every mother deserves the opportunity to thrive. Since 2008, our Neighborhood Programme has been running and skilled over nine thousand vulnerable mothers with practical skills, business training and mentorship to build sustainable livelihoods.
When I joined Watoto, I had lost hope. I had no home, no stable income, and I did not know how I would raise my children. Watoto welcomed me with love, gave me skills, and helped me believe in myself again. Today, my three children are graduates, and I am helping other mothers build better lives, revealed Allen Kenjeru also community worker under the Watoto Church Neighborhood Programme.
Watoto did not just support me; they gave me a new beginning. They taught me how to work, save, and grow a business. I am proud to stand here as proof that when you empower one mother, you change a whole family and inspire many others to never give up, she added.
Uganda Golf Club CEO Farayi Chitengwa welcomed the return of the tournament, saying the partnership continues to demonstrate golf’s ability to unite people behind meaningful causes.
The 3rd edition of the Watoto golf tournament represents more than a golf tournament and marks the beginning of Watoto’s eight-year journey towards 2034, when Watoto celebrates 50 years of impact and vision to empower 10,000 vulnerable mothers across Uganda and South Sudan.
