According to multiple reports emerging from the camp, players are still waiting for promised bonuses linked to their Africa Cup of Nations success as well as World Cup qualification incentives. The delay has reportedly created unease within the squad, with expectations that such payments would have been settled before or during the tournament.
Beyond financial matters, there are also growing concerns about logistics and team support structures.
The squad’s accommodation has reportedly fallen below the standards expected at a World Cup level, with criticism directed at the quality and suitability of the team hotel.
Further adding to the controversy is the absence of a dedicated national team chef, who did not travel with the delegation. This has reportedly forced players to rely on alternative food arrangements, with some squad members allegedly ordering meals from outside sources due to concerns over catering provisions.
On the sporting side, uncertainty also surrounds leadership stability. Head coach Pape Thiaw is said to be managing the team without a formal contract, an unusual situation at international level that raises questions about long-term planning and administrative structure within the setup.
