The long arm of the law continues to whip the cane and bite the hard way.
Dan Fred Lutaaya, a senior Assistant Town Clerk attached to Entebbe Municipal Council has been detained by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit to aid investigations into an alleged fraudulent property transaction in Manyago Housing Estate, Entebbe Municipality.
Other individuals suspected of facilitating the alleged fraudulent transaction include Mpiima Enock Bulwa, an LC1 official, and Kasaija Aggrey, a broker, among others.
Lutaaya is being held at Entebbe Central Police Station, where he is being questioned over his alleged role in a scheme involving the fraudulent sale of a house without the owner’s consent.
The alleged transaction reportedly resulted in a loss of Shs93 million by the buyer. Preliminary investigations indicate that the property was presented to the buyer for sale, after which documents were processed to facilitate the transfer of interest in the property.
However, the transaction was later challenged after the person presented as the rightful owner reportedly denied having sold the property or authorized its transfer.
Lutaaya is alleged to have issued a letter of no objection to the transfer of goodwill in the property and signed a sales agreement without the knowledge or authorization of the Town Clerk, who is mandated to act on behalf of Entebbe Municipal Council.
The suspects are being investigated over their alleged involvement in the transaction, as authorities seek to establish the circumstances under which the property was reportedly sold and transferred without the owner’s consent.
