Young Sprinter Earnest Wananda expressed his hope to post the best time in his 400 meters and probably 200 meters as he seeks to raise the Ugandan flag higher.

while speaking at the official unveiling of the team held at Uganda Athletics offices in Kampala, he noted; “I have worked hard in training, I have worked on my stats and endurance, and I am going there to make Ugandans proud. My target is to post the best time there,” stated the Old Kampala SS student

Wananda is part of the team that set to represent Uganda at the Confederation Africa Athletics Championship between July 16th to 20th.

The team also has United Arab Emirates-based 17-year-old Aribariho Kemigisha Kirabo, also a sprinter in the 100 and 200 meters.

As she aims to make her international debut, the young athlete flew back to Uganda to commence her preparations for the championship and is currently having personal training at Uganda Christian University in Mukono.

Out of the 19 athletes, eight are male and 11 female, representing in field and track activities, with some like Hosea Chemutai, Victor Cherotich, and others closing in on qualifications to the World Youth and Junior Athletics Championships

Uganda Athletics highly anticipates medals in the Under 18-20 team at the e CAA Championship.

The team of 26 will live ve the country on Monday 14th for Confederation of Africa Athletics Under 18 and Under 20 Championship.

Ahead of the Championship, Uganda Athletics is highly hopeful for the team to win medals.

Speaking to the press, Dominic Otucet, the Uganda Athletics President, hopefully stated, “We are confident our team will represent the country with pride and excellence. I am sure they will compete for all medals. On top of that, this is not just a platform for competition but also a vital opportunity for our young athletes to gain international experience.”

The Championship will concurrently run with the Confederation of Africa Athletics Congress in Abeokuta city, Nigeria.

The team comprises 19 athletes and seven officials, including World Athletics Member Beatrice Ayikoru as head of delegation.

The other officials are Charles Mugoya, who represents the National Council of Sports, and Domenic Otucet, the team Manager, while the officials list also includes a coach.

The coaches are Sam Egama Adrapi, Zaina Cheptoyek, Philemon Kosgei ISSA, and Quinto Doing.
