Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobie Wine) became the sixth candidate to be successfully nominated for the post of President of the Republic of Uganda.
Kyagulanyi arrived at the Electoral Commission Grounds in Lweza – Lubowa along Entebbe Road with the wife Barbie; and were accompanied by other party loyalists including music star King Saha, Ronald Balimwezo, among others.

“Upon meeting the legal requirements under the Presidential Elections Act, Cap 179, I duly confirm Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu as a candidate for the upcoming elections” Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission remarked.
Byabakama and his technical team had first skimmed through the submitted documents by Kyagulanyi’s team led by David Lewis Rubongoya, the secretary general of National Unity Platform.

Kyagulanyi thereafter spoke to the members of the media at the EC Grounds designated media center.
“This is the opportunity to liberate Uganda. We have been oppressed for a long time” Kyagulanyi spoke under the umbrella shelter due to the heavy rains at the venue.
Kyagulanyi is expected to address a mammoth rally at Nateete, a suburb in Kampala.

He joined the five earlier passed as Gregory Mugisha Muntuyera, from the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) candidate James Nathan Nandala Mafabi, incumbent Yoweri Museveni Kaguta Tibuhaburwa of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Elton Joseph Mabirizi (Conservative Party) and Robert Kasibante (National Peasants Party).
According to the Electoral Commission chairman Justice Simon Byabakama, the documentations of more candidates were being assessed.
