Uganda Decides 2026: Common Man’s Party candidate Munyagwa nominated, joins the table of men

Mubarak Munyagwa Sserunga who affiliates to the Common Man’s Party has been successfully passed to join the presidential race.

Munyangwa, a former Member of Parliament became the 7th candidate to be nominated at the Electoral Commission Grounds in Lweza, Lubowa.

His nomination arrived moments after Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

On the same day, Gregory Mugisha Muntuyera, from the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) and Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) candidate James Nathan Nandala Mafabi were also nominated with success.

On Tuesday, 23rd September 2025; three candidates were nominated.

The trio of incumbent Yoweri Museveni Kaguta Tibuhaburwa of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Elton Joseph Mabirizi (Conservative Party) and Robert Kasibante (National Peasants Party) were the first one to be nominated.

The campaign period is expected to kick off on 29th September 2025 and will run until 6th January 2026.

According to the Electoral Commission chairman Justice Simon Byabakama, the documentations of more candidates were being assessed.
