The Uganda Electoral Commission Boss, Justice Byabakama is happy that the presidential campaigns trail is moving on smoothly with no gun roaring, fighting and throwing stones for the last couple of weeks.
The only disturbing problems are complaints and petitions filed by several candidates that participated in the recently concluded party primaries.
Speaking at the Electoral Commission head offices, Byabakama warned aspiring candidates from dishing voters ‘money’ during the general campaigns.
“We appeal to candidates to abide by the law and avoid any actions that could disrupt the process.”
In his detailed briefing, Justice Byabakama disclosed that nominations for parliamentary aspirants will take place on October 22 and 23, 2025, emphasizing that the two-day window is final and non-negotiable.
The official communication was released and witnessed by media and presidential representatives at the Electoral Commission offices, along the 7th street.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared January 15, 2026, as the date for the presidential elections and parliamentary elections.
Campaigns will close two days earlier, on January 13, 2026, the prepare for the final blow on who takes the presidential ball.

“The use of money to influence voters is prohibited by law and it’s a criminal offense”, remarked Byabakama.
Aspirants were asked to temporarily pause community fundraising and ensure that any campaign funds are properly accounted for through bank systems.
“Let us remain civil; we don’t want the election to look like your party primaries,” he added.
Byabakama revealed that the commission is already handling complaints and petitions before the official start of parliamentary nominations, including two currently active petitions.
