Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) outgoing President Robert Jjagwe has called for the activation of term limits in the Uganda Sports governing bodies.
At the event held on Saturday, July 12th at Cooper Chimney, Jjagwe stated; “It is very bad for Federations to run without term limits. The presidents have too much power, which can lead to the destruction of those bodies if they overstay. In Table Tennis, I came in as President in 2014, in 2017 I fostered leadership term limits in the Associations, and today I have come to an end.”
Jjagwe ended his 11-year tenure with a peaceful transition to the Muwanga leadership, which commenced two weeks ago.

Incoming President Cyrus Muwanga has highlighted that he will start his four-year leadership by carrying the sport to every corner of the Country and continuing the legacy of the outgoing President.
“It’s good we are coming in and not starting at zero. The outgoing leadership has done a tremendous job, and now we are continuing on that, in complying with the new national sports bill. The mode of our sports is easily to circulate all over the country with continuous support from the National Council “Of Sports”

Upon the peaceful transition, Uganda Olympics Committee President Dr. Donald Rukare praised UTTA for the milestone reached.
“Many are just talking of the change, but it has to be highlighted as a peaceful transition. It is a good experience to have two former presidents of the association witnessing the commencement of the new president.” Dr. Rukare remarked.
The event was graced by distinguished figures including former UOC president William Blick, FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson Suubi, and Airtel’s David Birungi.
