President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Hon. Lady Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala as the new Inspector General of Government (IGG), replacing Hon. Beti Olive Namisango Kamya-Turomwe.
Justice Batala’s appointment marks a new chapter in Uganda’s anti-corruption drive, bringing to the office a wealth of experience from her judicial and prosecutorial background.
She has previously served on the High Court bench and in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), where she rose through the ranks as a senior state attorney before joining the Judiciary.
The Office of the Inspectorate of Government is mandated to promote good governance, combat corruption, and enforce the Leadership Code among public officials.
Outgoing IGG Beti Kamya was appointed to the position in July 2021 after serving as Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, and earlier as Minister for Kampala Capital City Authority.

During her four-year tenure, Kamya spearheaded the “Expose the Corrupt” campaign and intensified enforcement of asset declarations for public officials.
Justice Batala’s appointment is viewed as a move to strengthen the legal and judicial oversight within the Inspectorate, ensuring that anti-corruption investigations and prosecutions maintain a strong grounding in the rule of law.
The new IGG is expected to be sworn in in the coming days, after which she will officially assume office.
