It’s now official that the 4th Tusker lite Rwenzori marathon is back with bang and over 6000 runners expected to participate in this year’s fan run with Street Jam on the 23rd August 2025.
Top runners from South Africa and other parts of the World have registered to take part in this year’s magical marathon with a ‘Street Jam’ powered by Tusker Lite beer, noted Amos Wekesa also team leader for the Rwenzori marathon.

This year’s marathon is making everybody talking with several corporate companies and government agencies jumping on board including KIA Motors, Uganda Airlines, Britam Insurance, UWA, UNOOC plus others joining hands to support the magical fan fair in the Rwenzori mountain region.
The Tusker Lite Rwenzori marathon has grown from 800 runners to 4000 runners because of the values of promoting sports and tourism in the country, said Amos Wekesa during the media launch on Wednesday at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel.
Tusker Lite beer for the last couple of years has greatly supported the Rwenzori marathon as a premier brand that associates with life style and growing the tourism potentiality in the western arm of the country, said Emmy Hashakimana also UBL head of commercial.
State Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Martin Mugarra Bahinduka also chief guest at the Rwenzori marathon launch revealed that the fan ‘run’ has a good cause for the country plus showcasing Uganda’s tourism potential across the continent.
This year’s marathon has also been showered with lots of water supply and no hydration for runners, added Mackline of Rwenzori Water.

In just three years, the event has made bold strides, driving tourism, stimulating local economies and showcasing Uganda’s natural beauty on a global stage, said report.
It was officially certified in 2024, placing it on the global athletics calendar and opening up opportunities for participants to qualify for major international races.

The marathon is proudly supported by a strong network of partners who believe in its vision including Standard Chartered Bank, Great Lakes Safaris and Equator Hikes.
