StarTimes Uganda Premier League fans, under the umbrella of Platinum Football Fans Associations Uganda Limited, have launched a fans’ league in an attempt to overcome hooliganism.
The tournament, which includes fans of the 2024-2025 StarTimes Uganda Premier League clubs, will take place on July 19th and 20th at Kampala Quality.
The league will commence over two days, with the first day featuring qualifiers, and the games will be played on a halfway pitch for 25 minutes per half before switching to a full pitch, starting with the quarterfinals where 30 minutes will be played per half.
On the second day, the league will continue with semifinals, a classification match, and the final, with the match duration raised to normal game time.

The launch for the inaugural edition was held on Monday, July 7th at Amicus Hotel Kireka, where fan leaders from all 16 clubs were in attendance.
In his brief, Platinum Football Fans Association Uganda leader Sultan Hakim Kivumbi noted, “We organized this tournament for fans as our way of fighting hooliganism. We can’t support one club, but everyone has a right to choose a club to support. We must use football as something to bring us together as fans, and this is one of the ways to create unity among SUPL fans.”
The launch was graced by Bernard Bainamani Bampiire, the Chief Executive Officer of StarTimes Uganda Premier League, who assured full support from StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
“Starting with last season, we have been planning this. As Uganda Premier League, we are very aware of the project, and on behalf of UPL, I pledge full support in terms of generating funds to cover the event.” For the first edition, the league will be played on a mini-league basis with an option to make it an open league.
The league excludes all licensed players of the association football of the Uganda football tiers as participating teams aiming for big prizes Prizes include trophies, gold medals, and others.
The Platinum Football Fans Association Uganda Limited started in 2020 during the COVID-19 outbreak as a football platform and later, in 2023, was upgraded to register as an association.
