Intelligent Midfielder Crispus Sseruwuge shot from outside the goal area for Buddu as they humbled record champions Gomba 1-0 at the Sports Arena in Kitovu.

With a win Buddu became the first team to win the opening game in five years since Ssingo Ssaza defeated Ssese 3-0 in 2019.

Buddu is now looking a bigger record as they aim to defend the Masaza cup for the first time ever in the history of the championship.

In the game which was over attended in big crowd Gomba start with multiple attacks but Goalkeeper Marvin Ssebirungo kept Buddu in the game.

Buddu started growing in the game but found hard times to breakdown Herbert Onen’s defence in the first half.

In the second half the game was played end to end with both Goalkeepers taking the show on the day.

The Masaza cup will resume next weekend with eight games of match day one at different pitches
