Post Bank Uganda will be rebranding to Pearl Bank Uganda Limited, following the shareholders’ approval of the name change.
This was revealed during the 2024 Annual general meeting at the Ministry of Finance head offices in Kampala.
The rebranding comes at the time after the government owned banking hall hitting a target of Shs35.35b profit in the first quarter and a 28.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

In 2024, Post Bank disbursed over UGX 1 trillion under the Parish Development Model, reaching 870,000+ beneficiaries across the country.
“According to the Minister the new name was carefully chosen to reflect a renewed sense of pride in being Ugandan”, added Minister.
“It is a name that symbolizes purity, wisdom, wealth, status, and prosperity,” he said, referencing Winston Churchill’s iconic portrayal of Uganda as “The Pearl of Africa”, he added.
This change comes after five years of solid transformation and growth, during which the Bank has expanded access to financial services, increased support to MSMEs and agriculture, and demonstrated strong performance in driving inclusive banking.
Andrew Otengo Owiny, Chairman of the board, expressed deep satisfaction with the bank’s progress since it became a fully-fledged commercial bank in December 2021.
He highlighted PostBank’s extensive reach, noting its 57 branches and over 6,000 agents nationwide, which significantly contribute to financial inclusion across the country.
