POLITICAL TSUNAMI: NRM Big Dog Shyaka warns Hon Mbwatekamwa to tighten seat belt with canes

NRM party parliamentary aspirant, Stephen Shyka Gashaija is chest thumping and moving shoulders high after pushing his political rivals to the dogs in the party primaries in Entebbe.

Gashaija was on Thursday evening declared winner of the heated parliamentary party primaries including two women, Jovia Tugume Namaara and Scholastica Najjemba Baguma.

This follows after the District NRM Electoral Commission Returning Officer, Shaban Kawooya, declaring Gashaija the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for Entebbe Municipality to carry the flag in the coming general elections scheduled for 2026.

Gashaija defeated his opponents with 4175votes while Scholastica Najjemba Baguma, garnered 469 votes, and Jovia Namaara Tugume 192 votes.

The exercise kicked off by lining up behind their agents and photos of best candidates.

Thousands of party members turned up to throw their weights behind their favorite candidates to vote their flag bearers for both constituency and District Women MPs.

The NRM party’s decision to support Gashaija is seen as a strategic plot reclaim their seat currently enjoyed by opposition critic, Micheal Kakembo Mbwatekamwa formerly of the National Unity Platform party.

Gashaija has assurance that ‘thirsty’ voters will be rallying behind him to wash down the last general election tears following a battle up between political hyena Micheal Kakembo Mbwatekamwa.

Hon Mbwatekamwa split with the NUP principal Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu and joined the new rebel group headed by Mathias Mpuuga of the Democratic Frontline party.

It’s now official that, Micheal Kakembo Mbwatekamwa is a former member of the Democratic Party before getting refugee to the National Unity Platform.

Entebbe Division ‘A’ NRM Party MP Results

Mbwatekamwa has enjoyed the National Unity Platform party for only 4yrs and started up a ‘coup’ to overthrow the principal Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu a.k.a Bobi wine’s opposition government.

In the last general elections, Micheal Kakembo Mbwatekamwa scored highly on the political land scape  after frustrating the party’s favorite one Stuart Lubwama in the 2020 NUP party primaries in Entebbe.

As the 2026 general elections draw closer, the NRM primaries continue to reshape the political landscape, signaling new alliances and unexpected shifts across key constituencies.

In a dramatic postscript to the Entebbe race, reports emerged that candidate Scholastica Najjemba collapsed after the unfavorable outcome, having held high hopes of winning the party flag.

Entebbe Division ‘B’ NRM MP Results

Hakim Kirigwa also Entebbe RDC praised the peaceful voting process across the 24 voting villages in the municipality with minor complaints from Mayanzi, Kigungu subward pointing fingers at non-registered voters casting ballots.

In the Wakiso Woman MP NRM primaries, former Entebbe RDC Rosemary Kirabira bagged 2,808 votes, Namakula 1040 votes and Beth Kayesu, received only 362 votes.

The total number of registered voters in the Entebbe Municipality NRM yellow book stood at 21,507.
