Bowling took a center stage in deciding the game between Uganda Cricket Cranes and United Arab Emirates on Saturday, July 19 at Entebbe Lakeside Oval.

Uganda opted to bat first, putting on 126 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs and managed to defend the figure after restricting UEA at 120 for 8 in 20 overs.

Despite the likes of Robinson Obuya, Ronald Lutaaya, and others losing wickets by facing 5 balls or less the crease, the Cricket Cranes survived with their bawling led by captain Juma Miyagi.

In the first inning, Raghav Dawan led batting with 44 runs off 42 balls, Shrideep Mangela recorded 39 off 38 balls, and Alpesh Ramjan kept his end up with 21 off 12 balls and was not out.

For UAE’s bowling, all the five bowlers used managed to pick at least a wicket. Muhammad Rohid took 3, luckily faced by Juma Miyagi, Fran Nsubuga, and Cosmas Kyewuta.

Zubair Zuhaib picked 2; one was very important, stopping Raghav Dawan, and the other was Cyrus Kakuru, while Haidar Alli, with an economy of 4.86 from 4 overs, managed to pick Robinson Obuya.

Saghir Khan was another rough bowler, picking up two wickets, and Dhruv Parashar was the easiest, though he also managed a wicket.

In the second innings, UAE was restricted to 120 for 8 wickets after 20 overs. Muhammad Waseem was their best with 33 off 26.

Bowling for Uganda, Captain Juma Miyagi picked up 3 wickets and one run-out, taking out Saghir Khan, Ethan D’Souza, and Asif Khan, and running out Muhammad Zohaib.

Denish Nakrani had 2 wickets, including stopping Muhammad Waseem, and the other wicket was Alishan Sharaf, while Cosmas Kyewuta and Cyrus Kakuru also managed to run out Zubair Zuhaib.

The action shall return on Monday, July 21st, with Uganda taking on Kenya in the afternoon match at Entebbe Lakeside Oval.
