As the 2026 General elections draw nearer, the voters are so busy assessing and appraising the performance of their leaders whom they overwhelmingly voted for in 2021 elections in anticipation they would serve them to their expectations.
However, some of these politicians before their term in office expires, they have lost public trust and confidence from the electorate who voted them into office.
Today we unleash a list of politicians in Entebbe sub-region whose seats hang in balance and nearing their political death bed.
Michael Kakembo Mbwatekamwa
In 2021 parliamentary polls, he stood on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket and eventually the political wave favored him to see off his close political rival Stephen Shyaka Gashaija, who is currently donating bags of cement to religious institutions in addition to injecting money in SACCOS for marginalized groups like the youths, women, elderly and disabled persons among others.
However, the NUP party that helped Kakembo win the parliamentary seat is no longer supporting him and the party is looking at fielding either Joyce Namuli Nabatta or Stuart Lubwama as the party flag bearer.
Kakembo has since joined the Former Leader of opposition Hon. Mathias Mpuuga and he is among the legislators who were expelled from the National Unity Platform.
He is rumored to have joined the Democratic Alliance, a pressure group which is unpopular in Entebbe. Hon.Kakembo has lost political ground and faces a mammoth task to retain his seat even if the political ground is well leveled for all contesters.
So far eight contesters have expressed interest to unseat him in the 2026 parliamentary elections including DP’s Vincent Kayanja De-paul and Jovia Namara Tugume plus others we are to identify .
Kabwama Charles
He is the Deputy Mayor for Entebbe Municipality as well as the councilor for Lunyo East, Nsamizi state house, post office ward and Entebbe central town.
His first term in office has been characterized with a number of scandals as the electorates accuse him of disfavoring poor traders who originally occupied Kitooro Taxi Park.
They accuse him of using his political powers to allocate himself lockups in the disputed Kitooro Taxi Park, in addition to mounting illegal kiosks at the government owned taxi park.
They also accuse him of defying the Minister Magyezi’s directive who visited the disputed taxi park and ordered him and others to surrender the lockups to the Town clerk on top of demolishing the kiosks they mounted at the taxi park.
Kabwama who recently expressed interest to run for Entebbe Municipality mayorship his political support has dwindled drastically hence he has an uphill task to reconcile with the voters who seem to be so disappointed with him.
Richard Ssekyondo
He is the current mayor of Entebbe Division ‘B’ and he is seeking a second term in office.
He has done a lot of advocacy in the community including mounting pressure on the government to construct Buku road which connects Entebbe International Airport to Kigungu fishing site.
He has also organized a number of sporting activities in his efforts to promote talent among the youths. He initiated the ‘Weyonje’ program which aims at keeping the town clean and indeed this project has yielded fruits.
Despite doing all these good things, Sekyondo has ruined his political career after he allegedly used his political influence to allocate himself lockup shops in Kitooro taxi park, hence disadvantageous to the original market vendors who were there before council demolished the old structures to redevelop the newly constructed disputed taxi park.
Recently voters asked him to surrender the lockups or else they will vote him out.
The voters now are waiting for the 2026 General elections to teach him a memorable lesson.
Najjemba Scholastica Baguma
Najjemba is the mayor of Entebbe Division ‘A’ and a few months ago she announced her candidature to run for Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament seat.
Alias Muzabibu has done a lot of good things for the people of Entebbe Division ‘A’ but her alleged involvement in the sale of Entebbe Central market has ruined her political career.
It’s reported that Najjemba had an upper hand in the sale of Entebbe Central market to tycoon Adam Hafiz.
Currently Entebbe Municipal council has no land title for the said market and this has crippled redevelopment of the market.
The market vendors who operate in this market have a lot of pain as it’s rumored anytime the tycoon is likely to evict them from the government market.
Yasin Semanda Kyeyune
He is the LC3 councilor representing Kiwafu central zone and he has held his post for the last three terms.
He has been a good councilor but in his third term he has spoiled all the good things he has done.
It’s said that nowadays he is after deals regardless of their negative impact on the electorate.
He is currently involved in the squabbles between the two warring taxi groups and he has decided to side with the taxi group operating in Entebbe bus yet as a leader he is supposed to harmonize the two groups such that they all operate in Kitooro Taxi Park which is gazetted for all taxi operators.
To make matters worse, councilor Yasin was implicated in the mess up allocation of lockups at the Kitooro Taxi Park.
He is alleged to have used his political power to allocate himself lockup spaces for kiosks leaving the future of the original traders in uncertainty. It’s upon this basis that voters are thinking of voting him out in the 2026 polls.
Jackie Kimera
Jackie Kimera is the secretary for finance at Entebbe municipal council.
She has enjoyed a good political career in the last two terms but in her third term, she has turned into a selfish politician who wishes herself everything.
Kimera is accused of being at the helm of messing up the allocation exercise of lockups in Kitooro Taxi Park.
Because of her “curvy hips”, she has been able to influence the allocation committee to allocate her more than three lockups in Kitooro Taxi Park.
She recently bought a silver reconditioned Kruger car which she cruises around while supervising her businesses in the taxi park.
Councilor Jackie who separated with her hubby is in deep trouble and unlikely to retain her seat after the voters vowed to kick her out of council accusing her of not sympathizing with the poor traders who originally occupied the Kitoro Taxi Park.
Ahmed Bawonga
He is a devoted muslim and he represents the people of Kiwafu west zone at Entebbe Division’ B.’
In his previous term, he has served well his electorates but his current term in office is stained with bad politics and greed.
The voters look at his actions as being inhuman and have vowed to get rid of him in the 2026 General elections. (Watch Out)
