Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni Tibuhabura on Wednesday officially launched and commissioned the twenty thousand (20,000) seater magnificent stadium in the oil city of Hoima.
Mr. Museveni described the stadium as a major investment in sports development and national infrastructure ahead of Uganda’s commitment to host AFCON in 2027.

“This Africa Cup of Nations that Uganda will host in 2027 stimulated us to do something here in Hoima City”, said Mr Museveni.
‘We have been very busy with other sectors including Security, Agriculture, and Manufacturing and now we shall put more efforts in developing sports as a sub sector’ said report.

The First Lady & Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni thanked the president and the government for prioritizing the project and ensuring its completion in record time with only 4months to completion.
“This is the day as a country we celebrate this new stadium as a Christmas gift,” she said, adding that the stadium is a testimony to what can be accomplished when the country works together”, said Mama Janet Museveni.

This project should be emulated all the time and thanked Hon Peter Ogwang for being committed in developing this sports facility worth shs129m project and constructed by the Turkish company, Ms Summa.
President Museveni advised the people of Hoima to keep this sports facility in good shape and thanked the first lady for doing this great job.

‘It has been a combination of events to take on this job including the oil industry development and Hoima airport’, remarked Museveni.
After delivering his speech, President Museveni walked to the football stadium and kicked the first ball accompanied the first lady Janet Kataaha Museveni during the flag off of the Bunyoro Kitara FC and KCCA match.

Mr. Museveni before walking away did a few football skills and boxing gimmicks as a sign of protecting the gains he has struggled for in the last couple of years.
The official commissioning and launch of the Hoima stadium was attended by several high profiled personalities including Vice president Robinah Nabbajja, Deputy parliamentary speaker Thomas Tayebwa, Minister Kasaija, Moses Rwakitarate, Kakumiro RDC Francis Kibuuka plus others.
The giant sports facility has a swimming arena, media workstation, food courts, bars, presidential suite, parking plus other spectacular facilities.
