The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has fired several football players including two former Express football club officials plus a player for match-fixing in the 2024 game against Kitara football club.
Mike Mutyaba also former coach plus Emmanuel Kalyowa also goalkeeper and Miiro Ashraf Mwanje also former CEO) have been banned from all football activities across the continent with effect of the 12th March 2026.
Mbazira Ashiraf’s case is before the FIFA Disciplinary Committee while other Ugandans are battling with suspensions for match-fixing including Saleh Maganda (formerly Calvary FC) banned 5years, Franco Oringa (formerly Northern Gateway) banned 5years, Godfrey Lwesibawa (formerly Gadaffi FC) banned 5years,Yahaya Mahad Kakooza (formerly Gadaffi FC) banned 5years ,Andrew Waiswa (formerly Gadaffi FC) banned 5years, George Nkurunziza also referee banned 10years and Deogracious Opio also referee banned 10years.
Nkurunziza George violated Article 41 of the manipulation of football matches [plus competitions & match statistics) also Article 24(3) of General duties and Article 42.
Last year, FUFA banned referee, John Bosco Kalibala from officiating any football related activity at national level for a period of 15 years over match-fixing.
In March 2022, FUFA banned former Police FC marketing and sales manager Abraham Luzzi and also local football coach James Kaweesa over match fixing.
In April 2021, former Uganda Premier League side, Kyetume FC indefinitely suspended three players, including goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa, defender Julius Ntambi, and team captain Mustafa Mujjuzi over allegations of match-fixing.(login : gatewaynews.co.ug)
