LUMPENS: Police smokes out wrong elements in city hide -out with basins of bush weed

Kampala Metropolitan Police in joined effort combed different hideouts and “bufudas” to smoke out wrong elements and criminals giving locals sleepless nights.

These suspects were found loitering around city suburbs in different black spots with narcotics plus hard substances including criminal acts such as phone and bag snatching.

In areas of Najjera, Bulindo, and Shimon, a targeted crackdown on criminal elements involved bush weed and marijuana abuse resulted in the arrest of 30 suspects, said report.

A night operation around William Street, Wilson Road, Top Pub, Nakasero, Old Taxi Park, Cooper Complex, and Shoprite led to the arrest of 60 male adult suspects.

The suspects were apprehended from identified ghettos and black spots known for harboring criminals involved in simple robberies and house break-ins.

In the wee hours of the 12th June 2025, another intelligence- joint operation was conducted in Kiwala Village, Nama Sub-County so the arrest of nine suspects.

The public is urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities around your area  to the nearest police station or post, said ASP Luke Owoyesigyire also Deputy PRO Kampala Metropolitan Police.

The coordinated joint security operations involved personnel from the Uganda Police Force, Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), and Crime Intelligence Units, working closely with local leadership and community stakeholders.

Meanwhile police in Ntungamo district   arrested three suspects in custody over the late Naekeree Kedress murder, a resident of Butare Ward, Kauhunga sub-county in Ntungamo District murder case.

The deceased body was found hanging in front of her door, and was staying with her grandson, revealed report.

The police sniffer dog smelt a rat and moved around to about 1km to the house of the daughter in-law identified as Mercy where three people have been revealed including two in police custody and one -on the run.
