Kisubi Mapeera Secondary School marked 26 years of existence with a lavish ceremony held at the school’s main playground.
ArchBishop of Kampala His Grace Paul Ssemwogerere was chief celebrant during an event also graced by the newly appointed Deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG) Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria.

The day-long festivities also entailed the confirmation of 46 candidates into the Catholic faith, as well as the blessing of 534 candidates for S4 and S6 ahead of the national examinations for the year, 2025.
“I am very happy to be here (at Kisubi Mapeera SS)” The Kisubi born ArchBishop opened up.

“I had to forgo the national Independence celebrations at Kololo Independence Grounds to be at the Kisubi Mapeera SS celebrations for marking 26 years” he added.
The ArchBishop prayed for and blessed the new boys’ Dormitory (to accommodate over 1000 students) named after Reverand Father Vincent Mulumba, the founding head teacher of the school.
He then planted a tree (mango species) in the Dormitory compound as a sign of appreciation to mother nature.
“I thank you for this monumental building. I thank for whoever contributed, the board of Governors for the wise decisions and the engineers who did a great deal of work. I thank you for honoring Father Mulumba for the tremendous work at Kisubi Mapeera S.S” ArchBishop Ssemwogerere remarked.
“Let the Dormitory be one of brotherhood, prayer, discipline and integrity” he added.

A total of forty six (46) candidates were confirmed into the Catholic faith, officially ushering them into the faith that has existed for over 140 years since it was introduced by Brother Amans and Mapeera.
The current head teacher of the school Rev. Father Benedict Kaweesa expressed gratitude to all the partners and stakeholders in the collective effort of the developments at the school as he preached teamwork.

“I wish to thank everyone who made my coming to Kisubi Mapeera SS a welcome gesture. I wish to thank the ArchBishop for appointing me to this school. I equally thank the Board of Governors for accepting me. With them, I thank members of staff, parents’ body and all various stakeholders and students for accepting them. I promise I create teamwork and commitment to the school objectives and priorities. Let us all make a team for improvement of our school” Rev. Father Kaweesa noted.

The previous head teacher Oweekitibwa Joseph Ddamulira Kawuma was appreciated for the 21 years of diligent with special gifts and tokens.
The others appreciated were members of the governing board and the Parents Teachers’ Association (PTA).
