Last year, Grace Kasango run the show at the 26TH edition of the Kinyara Golf tournament and walked away chest thumping after flooring his rivals in the golf game.
Grace Kasango established a two-shot lead with a 1-under-70 score after the opening round of 18 holes for the professionals on round one of the 2024 Kinyara Golf Open.
The towering professional golfer registered a total of 4 birdies and drove with four pars in a line on 6, 7, 8 and 9 to finish the front course level.
Kasango walked bobbing shoulders high at the 26th edition of the Kinyara golf open after flooring several other golfers including Saidi Mawa, Samuel Kato, Ronald Bukenya,Joseph Mawejje, Emmanuel Ogwang,Herman Mutawe, Fred Nkuranga, Tom Jingo, Adolf Muhumuza, Brian Mwesigwa and Peter Ssendaula.
Masindi top amateur golfer Joseph Kasozi bagged 107 gross in 17 holes and Kasozi’s first 18 holes registered 2-over-73 and completed the front 9 of the second round with 34 gross marks and Ivan Sekulima followed secondly with 113, one shot better than the duo of Abdullah Kakooza and Christopher Basaliza.
It’s now official that, Grace Kasango will be facing it rough with professional golfers, at this year’s 27th edition of the Kinyara Golf open tournament, starting next week on the 13th -15th November 2025 at the Masindi golf course.
This year’s tournament will feature different categories of golfers ranging from professionals to amateurs to seniors (above 55 years of age).
Kasango is expected to stage a title defence in a field that has also other professionals including David Kamulindwa, Vincent Byamukama, Marvin Kibirige, Irene Nakalembe, Herman Deco Mutebi, Rodel Tadeo Gaita, Abraham Ainamani, James Koto, Phillip Kasozi, Deo Akope, Herman Mutaawe, Henry Lujja, Opio Onito, Samuel Kato, Emmanuel Ogwang, among others.
It’s gonna be tighter for our very own Grace Kasango including senior golfers (those above 55 years) battling up for the top cash prize of shs10M with amateurs walking away with shs4M cash prize both men and women.
Lots of prizes are up for grabs in this competition including cash, micro ovens, refrigerators and TV screens.
This year’s golf tournament is being sponsored by several insurance companies including Liaison insurance(shs30M),ICEA Lion(shs30M),Old Mutual(shs5M),MUA insurance(shs10M),Sanlam(shs10M) and Goldstar insurance(shs10M).
Over one hundred million shillings has been injected into this year’s Kinyara Golf tournament with over 200 golfers expected to participate, said Francis Mugerwa also the Public Relations Manager at Kinyara Sugar Works
