KIGEZI CASH COW: Besigye’s man Garuga’s last candlelight dinner & climb to ladders

James Musinguzi Garuga is a founding member of the Uganda Patriotic Movement (UPM) in 1979 and National Resistance Army (NRA) bush war ‘hero’.

He later fell out with President Museveni and joined former FDC fire fox Kizza Besigye who also had previously worked with President Museveni also fell out with him.

Musinguzi and Kizza Besigye with others co-founded the ‘Reform Agenda’ which later gave birth to FDC.

Musinguzi became so popular in the political cycles and invested time plus monies in the FDC party.

In 2001, Besigye’s man tried to battle up with former premier John Patrick Amama Mbabazi and lost the parliamentary race for Kinkizi West constituency at that time.

Musinguzi lost the election and petitioned the High Court to cancel the results, citing electoral irregularities including voter bribery, intimidation and other use of state machinery to kick him out of the parliamentary race.

In 2006, he retired from active politics and focused on business ventures and developmental politics.

Musinguzi was born 1953 from Kihihi in Kanungu district and graduate of Makerere University.

He walked from a humble background and ended up climbing ladders of billionaire and man of substance, says report.

He donated land to the  Butogota town council to develop a health centre & land for Nyakabungo town council.

Musinguzi contributed shs50M to the completion of Emmanuel cathedral and died at the age of 72yrs.

Musinguzi has passed on with around $8M worth of investment including the Kigezi highland tea investment.

He was a passionate farmer with investments in ranching and coffee among other ventures.

He was closely connected to church and founder of the  Garuga Resorts plus several lodges in Western Uganda, particularly in Kanungu and Kyenjojo districts.
