Over 500 residents in Entebbe Municipality under their various SACCOS they formed 3 years back with the promise by government to benefit from Emyooga seed money to uplift their business have never seen any money despite fulfilling all the necessary requirements as stipulated by Micro Finance support Center
Research indicates that over 20 saccos with over 500 members have been saving with this saccos and were promised by government to support them with seed capital of 30 million as startup capital and 50 million for local leaders Sacco but ever since they were promised the seed capital 3 years ago none of them has got the money.
Some of the saccos seen includes, carpenters, taxi operators, Journalists, boda-boda, Welders, Mechanics, person with disabilities, all this both in Division A and B.
One of the Sacco leaders for Welders Kizito Isamel says, they have been disappointed ever since government promised to support us it has not fulfilled its promised so we cannot trust them with our votes, “We are not happy with the NRM government for making empty promises most especially we people of Entebbe we mobilized our people they were saving money in various saccos hoping to be supported with seed capital through Emyooga ,but to their disappointment only to receive empty promises that’s we have vowed not to vote the NRM party“.
Recently a team of auditors from state house led by Mr. Tumine Milton Pedi where in Entebbe Municipality to find out why the saccos have not accessed the Emyooga funds “The president wants all Ugandans to be rich that’s why the Emyooga program is there we have to investigate this why have this saccos not accessed the funds”.
Efforts to get a comment from the micro finance support center has been futile but reports indicate that Entebbe municipality has so far received over 1 billion shs for the Saccos.
