Centenary Bank, the largest commercial microfinance bank in Uganda, has reaffirmed its commitment to community development and social transformation by joining the 3rd edition of the Nsambya Babies Walk.
This was in a bid to raise funds for the welfare of children under the Home’s care.
The journey that began from Railway Grounds to Nsambya Babies Home was flagged off by the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, His Grace Paul Ssemwogerere.
The charity event, themed “Pilgrims of Hope” joined stakeholders from across civil society, including church leadership, community organizations, schools, among others walking together in solidarity.
While addressing the walkers in Nsambya, Dr Fabian Kasi, Centenary Bank Managing Director, said the walk is not just an event to tick off on the calendar year, but a rally to raise funds to ensure these children have a bright future.
“At Centenary Bank, our mission is deeply rooted in faith, compassion and a steadfast commitment to service. This is the foundation for our long-standing partnership with Nsambya Babies’ Home, an institution that holds a special place in our hearts,” Kasi remarked.

He therefore called upon other institutions to join in the support of this community and provide sustainable support for the children including healthcare, education, and psychosocial support.
Each year, Centenary Bank allocates 2% of its previous year’s profit to Corporate Social Investment initiatives, including financial literacy, education, environmental conservation, and community efforts such as this.
This year, the Bank contributed twenty million Uganda Shillings (Ushs. 20,000,000) to the Nsambya Babies Walk.
Dr. Kasi thanked the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix-Ggogonya, the caregivers, volunteers, and other donors who serve day in and day out to ensure that the Home continues to support the vulnerable children.
Sr. Teddy Nakyanzi, the Director of Nsambya Babies Home expressed deep gratitude to Centenary Bank for the support. “On behalf of the entire Nsambya Babies Home, I extend our heartfelt appreciation to our partners such as Centenary Bank for their support and generous contributions. Your support not only helps us meet the daily needs of the children but also reminds us that we are not alone on this mission. Together, we can give these children the dignity, love, and future they deserve.”

Nsambya Babies Home is currently operating under the Child Welfare and Adoption Society (CWAS).
This walk is a reminder that when communities come together with purpose, impact is felt.
With continued commitment and collaboration, we can build a society where future is much better with the welfare of children being held paramount.
