Under 18-20 Uganda Athletics team captain Nancy Chepkwurui has highlighted the major mission in Nigeria to be winning themost number of medals.
As the team was getting flag off on Sunday July 13th at National Council of Sports, Chepkwurui stated “We are going to Nigeria with winning the most medals as our major target, we are well prepared and ready to run the best time both a personal level and at the championship.
The same team was stoppable at the Qualitiers held in Tanzania as they bagged a hooping 29 medals standing Uganda most from one Championship.
The Flag off Ceremony was handed by Assistant General Secretary Sarah Chelangat and she revealed full trust in the team; “I believe we have done all the necessary needs to see this team raising the Ugandan flag high, this team is very energetic I was here when we sent them to Tanzania and they represented us well and I believe they can do more”.
The team has 26 Members with 19 Athletes of Under 18 and Under 20 Boys and Girls.
As Chepkwurui leading the Girl’s side, Victor Cherotich will captain the boys on the team.
The team is under Sam Egama Adrapi with co-coaches in Philemon Kosgei ISSA, Quinto Dieng and Zaina Cheptoyek.
