The 2025 Masaza cup tournament was launched in style with Sponsor Airtel unveiling a new bundle to ensure easy communication thoughout the tournament.
At the Launch held at Bulange Gardens Mengo on 18th June 2025, Airtel Uganda managing director Som Soumendra, announced the development while giving his remarks at the event.
“As we Launch the 21st edition of Masaza Cup as well we are launching the Airtel Masaza cup bundles to keep our people, the fans, technical official, our beloved fans and others whether fans or not” Soumendra remarked.
The new monthly all network connection bundles of 15000/=, 30,000/= and 50,000/= shall be a three in one comprising Minutes, Data and SMS bandles and it is aimed to ease communication tasks as it was explained by Soumendra who later baptized Zziwa by Buganda Prime minister Charles Peter Mayiga.
In extension, Soumendra also vibrated the importance of the Masaza cup tournament using his broken Luganda but right in meaning “Mwasuze mutya, I congratulate the Ngabi Nsamba for winning the Bika Football shield defeating Ndiga, today we are launching Masaza cup a tournament that turned culture into phenomenal, we are honored to continue the partnership with a tournament which is vital in promoting unity, heritage and sports excellence, investing in this is very important in grooming Uganda football talents and rally points of behavior changes like fighting HIV AIDS”
The Airtel Masaza cup 2025 was launched by Buganda Prime minister Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga ahead of their opening on June 21 with Buddu entertaining Gomba at Kitovu Sports Arena with its final scheduled on 1st November 2025.
While Katikkiro launching the Airtel Masaza cup tournament 2025, Katikkiro stated “Football is beyond enjoyment as it carries alot of opportunities, Kabaka wants us to develop sports in a deliberate way, with that we decided to register Masaza teams as clubs and we also decided to construct stadiums in all 18 counties”.
He continued his remarks with awaking team managers to improve mentality in avoidance of indiscipline “As we are heading to this year Masaza cup, I argue you to improve mentality and avoid all the indiscipline and believing in witchcrafts, that doesn’t win a game it only degrades the Masaza cup tournament”.
