Young people have been urged to embrace technology as a key tool for transforming their lives and driving development in an increasingly digital world.
The call was made during the ongoing four-day Afro-Arab Youth Council Congress taking place at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda.
Speaker after speaker, they emphasized the need for youth to harness technology to close the widening development gap between generations and to position themselves for opportunities in the global economy.
Former Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, who addressed the delegates, challenged young people to leverage digital innovation for networking, collaboration, and empowerment.
“Technology should not only connect us but also inspire creativity and cooperation across borders,” he said.
The event attracted several dignitaries, including the Minister in charge of the Office of the Vice President, Hon. Diana Mutasingwa; the Minister of Health (General Duties), Hon. Hanifa Kawooya; the Third Deputy Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama; and the Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara.
Over 1,500 delegates from various African and Arab countries are attending the congress, which aims to strengthen Afro-Arab cooperation and youth participation in sustainable development.
