The 2026 Buganda Masaza Cup gathered momentum on Matchday One as several counties made strong opening statements in their quest for regional glory. The tournament, which officially kicked off on 13th June, continued with a full schedule of fixtures across different venues in Buganda.

At Kitovu Sports Arena, hosts Buddu delighted their home supporters with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Buluuli.

The result handed Buddu a perfect start to their campaign while leaving Buluuli with work to do in the upcoming fixtures.

Busujju also secured maximum points after edging Buvuma 1-0 at Kakindu Stadium. The narrow win was enough to place Busujju among the early pace setters as they began their journey on a positive note.

One of the most closely contested encounters of the day saw Busiro and Gomba settle for a goalless draw at Nabbingo.

Despite creating opportunities, neither side found the breakthrough, forcing both teams to share the spoils in their opening fixture.

In Mityana, Ssingo overcame Kabula 2-1 in an entertaining contest. The victory underlined Ssingo’s ambitions for the season as they collected three valuable points away from home.

Kyaggwe also made a winning start, defeating Mawokota 1-0 at Buwama. A disciplined performance and a decisive goal ensured Kyaggwe left with all three points in a result that could prove crucial in the race for qualification.

Meanwhile, Bugerere and Kooki played out a 1-1 draw at Ntenjeru. Both sides showed attacking intent and earned a point apiece from a balanced encounter.

With the opening round now complete, the 2026 Masaza Cup has already delivered excitement, drama and crucial early results. As the competition progresses, teams will be eager to build momentum and strengthen their chances of advancing to the knockout stages.
