MultiChoice Talent Factory East Africa is calling on Uganda’s emerging filmmakers to apply for its 2026 cohort.

Applications close on February 27. This is a rare chance to enter a structured, industry-backed training programme that turns raw talent into working professionals.

MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) is a year-long film and television training programme designed to bridge the skills gap in Africa’s creative industry.

It combines classroom learning, hands-on production, mentorship, and industry exposure. Graduates leave with real credits, real networks, and real career momentum.

The training focuses on improving filmmaker’s skills in storytelling, cinematography, editing, audio, directing, producing, scriptwriting and production management.

Africa’s film and TV industry is growing fast, and demand for local content on DStv and GOtv keeps rising. The real gap is skilled talent. MultiChoice Talent Factory exists to close that gap by equipping young creatives with global-standard skills in storytelling, directing, producing, cinematography, and post-production,” said Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager, MultiChoice Uganda.

Jamugisa added that applying to MultiChoice Talent Factory is the best path a creative can take to unleash their full potential. “We’ve seen incredible enthusiasm from young creatives across the region, and with our cohort already engaged in training in Nairobi, this is a critical moment. The programme targets young creatives with ambition, discipline and gives them the tools to compete on a global stage.”

Since its launch in East Africa, MTF has trained dozens of filmmakers from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and beyond. Many alumni have gone on to work on major productions across the continent, winning awards, securing commissions, and building networks that actually open doors.

MTF alumni have made more than 40 films that have collectively reached audiences of over 12 million viewers, while creating countless jobs in the creative sector, ranging from sound designers to producers, all airing on Showmax, Maisha Magic, Africa Magic, and other platforms.

Four Ugandan filmmakers, Giovanni Yona Namulya, Asiimire Owobushoborozi, Fredrik Mayiga and Denzel Everd Maniple are currently in Nairobi, learning from the best, collaborating with peers across the region, and laying the foundation for careers that could redefine East African cinema.

If you are a Ugandan filmmaker, producer, writer, or creative with a vision, this is your entry point. Do not wait. Apply before February 27 and take your place in Africa’s next wave of storytellers.
