Workers Delegates from the Ankole Sub-Region have agreed to Become Champions of Climate change and a just a Transition a program under the Amalgamated Transport and General workers union (ATGWA) supported by FNV and NOTU, the program which is to be rolled out throughout the country mainly among workers leaders aims at sensitizing them on challenges of Climate change and after effects in the coming Globally Transition among workers.
Addressing the workers at Mbarara City Hall the Secretary General ATGWA Who is also the Deputy SG NOTU Abima Stephen says, climate change is one of the most significant challenges of our time and as workers we have to get ready for the Transition.

Most developing countries have limited economic diversification and are heavily dependent on few industries, making them vulnerable to economic, pandemic, and climate shocks. Rapid population increase, fiscal deficits, and limited innovation capacities also pose further challenges for these countries’ rights and ensuring that those impacted by these changes are supported. A just transition must be managed in a fair and equitable way for all. This includes providing social protection for millions of restructured, or entirely new opportunities will emerge. As such,
The town clerk Mbarara city who was represented by the city North town clerk Mr. Prosper Tagobya says, the transition program is timely since many technologies are rising up, so there is need for the workers to adopt up these technologies and the change in whether patterns due to human errors most especially here in the western region where most places are hilly.

The program is to target all workers of Uganda namely Eastern, Northern, Western, And Central.
In the workshop workers Delegates from the western region endorsed Bro Abima Stephen for workers MP in the next Parliament of Uganda to champion Workers rights.
