Top managers and staff at the Uganda Airlines are knocking heads and sweating plasma over the contaminated bottled water with cockroach inside.
The national airline is under fire with sparkling uproar over the Wavah water that was supplied with a cockroach inside the plastic bottle.
The national airline has written to Wavah Water expressing alarm over the unacceptable food safety incident involving bottled water served on the national airline.
Mr Dominic Mascarenhas, also the Uganda Airlines’ manager for in-flight services, reported that a crew member found a cockroach inside a water bottle packed by Wavah Water.
The contaminated water allegation now comes as a final nail to Wavah water which if conceded, it’s such a high-profile food safety breach that can lead to summarily termination of Wavah’s supplier contract with Uganda Airlines.
The contaminated bottle was reportedly removed and replaced before being served to passengers.
However, the airline warned that the incident amounted to a breach of food safety standards with potential regulatory and operational implications.

However, quite a number of cases where these cockroaches have been involved in food contaminations, it has been discovered at later stages that they were deliberately transported and planted by humans into the food substances with various intentions including malicious damage, escape from payment for a service and other financial gains through demanding for compensations.
“This incident is deeply concerning several reasons including breach of food safety standards, risk to guests if served, operational and regulatory implications, said report.
Ms Shakila Rahim Lamar also Uganda Airlines head of public relations and corporate affairs has confirmed to the incident and the first of its kind to cause panic.
“We engaged the water supplier and conducted laboratory tests and shared their production processes”, said report.
Uganda Airlines will review and if necessary explore alternative sourcing options to safeguard passenger safety measures and confidence, added report.
“Given the many parties and processes involved, we approached the matter with expediency and seriousness,” noted Shakila Rahim Lamar also Uganda Airlines head of public relations and corporate affairs.

Elvis Wavamuno also executive director of Wavah water company said he will first consult his general manager before giving an official position.
Wavah water has enjoyed the monopoly of serving the national Airline since its revival, and invested huge capital in customizing, packaging and branding for the Airlines water.
