This weekend all roads will lead to the 5th edition of the Taibah schools independence tournament at the schools’ campus along Entebbe road
It’s very exciting to have this tournament with different sports displines including girls’ football, rugby and basketball, revealed head teacher Annet Nanyonjo Mugisha.
Talent development in this country hasn’t been tapped as expected from village level to national level, she added.
Sports as a displine is good to be included the school curriculum for mental health and physical fitness to burn the junk food that lots of people consume these days,said report,
We have lots of talent mostly in basketball, football & it’s within our philosophy to produce confident students & great performers, said report.
This is our signature event closing the academic year with over 10 schools performing into this year’s edition and these include, Kisubi high school, Trinity schools, Elite schools with Green hill academy and Aga Khan school joining for the first time into the tournament.
The three weeks’ event attracts several schools including Agro Link, Pearl of Africa, Ubayyi Islamic secondary school, Vikas international and success stories have been told, revealed Oscar Ssemwaya Musoke also principal at the Taibah schools.

Some of the key names that have been profiled for excellence including Kizito Lawerence joined Alacante Spanish academy, Bonobana Slyvia from Bethel high school now Netballer with Victoria university, Nakamya Rebecca from Bethel high school also Netballer with Kyambogo university plus including Zizi Zola from Vikas schools is shinning of basketball at Alupe Kenya University.
Around shs30M has been budgeted for this year’s independence tournament to run every weekend for three weeks, said Oscar Semwaya Musoke also Taibah principal.
The Taibah schools started with about 500 students and now risen to over 1500 students, revealed report.
