As the football fraternity continues digging into a World Cup year, the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has started to invite applications for volunteers.
An approximate number of 65,000 successful applicants will be invited by FIFA to attend the Volunteer Team Tryouts in October 2025, before getting training in March 2026 ahead of the FIFA World Cup 26, which will kick off on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City.
All trained volunteers will provide support across 23 functional areas at official and non-official sites such as stadiums, training sites, airports, hotels, and more during the event, which shall take place in three countries including the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Speaking on the development, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said, “Volunteers are the heart, soul, and smile of FIFA tournaments.”
He added that, “They get to show off their local pride, gain a behind-the-scenes view of the tournament, and make memories and friendships that can last a lifetime, while supporting a historic event. We hope interested individuals will join us as we welcome the world to North America in 2026.”
“Craig Collins, who has volunteered at two FIFA events including World cup 1994 and FIFA Club World Cup 2025 both happened in USA, showed excitement towards the opportunity, saying, “I’m excited to apply for the 2026 volunteer programme and hope to show off my community to the world once more, not just for FIFA. I’m so proud to be part of this moment.”
Millions are expected to attend the tournament, and only people who are passionate about the game are the ones whom FIFA will welcome to volunteer, with no experience required beyond being 18 years old and being fluent in English.”
The 26th global football tournament shall run from June 11 to July 19, with a number of 48 countries taking part.
